How to plan the perfect UK trip

There’s nothing more exciting than planning a trip to the UK, it’s the land of many great things, including a wealth of history, incredible landmarks, and exciting opportunities. Whether you’re a Harry Potter fan or you simply want to marvel at the famous Buckingham Palace, there are plenty of things to be seen that you don’t want to miss out on. Here’s how to plan the perfect UK trip.

Plan where you’re staying wisely

While you’re probably going to want to see London and experience the bustling city sights, it’s actually incredibly expensive to stay in the city. London has some great connections just outside that’ll save you some money, and you will also only be a short journey from the center thanks to the interconnecting tube and train system. London and surrounding areas have some fantastic hostels, B&Bs, and campsites that will accommodate your stay.

How to plan the perfect UK trip

Make a note of all the attractions you want to visit

Chances are you’re going to have an idea of everything you want to see; however, you’re going to need to know how much this is all going to be. If you make a list of everything you want to do, add up how much it costs to get inside along with your train travel and food for the day then it’ll give you an idea of how much it’s all going to cost.

Explore the surrounding area

This goes for anywhere you go in the UK. However, if London is your destination, then there are loads of places to visit that are within a few hours journey. The best part is, you can visit historic towns and see some fantastic countryside and for nothing more than the cost of travel. If you’re a history buff, or love to see some gorgeous rolling hills, then there are national companies that look after these kinds of places, although they occasionally have an admission fee. These are companies like the National Trust and English Heritage.

Walk as much as possible

There is actually so much you can see in the UK, and many of those things are better to take in if you walk. Whether you’re walking from Trafalgar Square to Leicester Square, or along a small country path leading you to a famous historic site, these experiences are better suited to those on foot, otherwise you run the risk of missing so much. Not to mention some of the best places are hidden away, and you wouldn’t be able to reach them without walking anyway.

Decide on the time of year

Time of year is crucial in the UK since they tend to have some drastic seasonal changes. It’s not quite like going from a summery paradise to winter wonderland either, and if you were to plan it wrong, then you could end up going somewhere where a large gray cloud blanket and rain is what you’re greeted with. However, British weather isn’t all doom and gloom, and perhaps that’s something worth sacrificing if you want a cheaper out-of-season experience. If you choose to go in June, July, and August, then you’ll have a much better chance of having beautiful hot weather. However, if you want to take a chance, then April and May are good times to go since the countryside is blossoming, baby animals are being born, but you do risk some rain.

It’s all about planning and deciding exactly how you want your trip to feel, whether it’s a bustling city adventure, a countryside getaway or a coastal town experience.
