One of the social skills that kids learn in school is how to follow directions. However, a crucial part of following instructions, that this student seems to have missed, is understanding the question’s intent.
While the test taker is not technically wrong by simply circling x, and we certainly don’t fault him or her for wanting to skip the math, we don’t believe that they are going to earn any points for this “correct” answer.
