The multicolored toothpastes we’re so used to now, are not just a fun gimmick. There is actually a meaning behind each color (or at least there used to be). Back in the ’70s, people started caring a lot more about dental hygiene – and wanted their toothpastes to do more than just clean their teeth.
So Aquafresh was the first brand to add mouthwash to its toothpaste (the blue strip) and later on added red (symbolizing ingredients that also care for your gums).
