You may not notice this until you’re stuck in traffic, but have you ever thought about those black dots all along the edges of your car windows? It could be just a cool design, but it’s unlikely that car manufacturers would spend so much time and money adding something with no use.
These funky little dots are known as frits, and they do indeed have a specific purpose. When your car’s temperature goes through extreme fluctuations, the frits keep the rim of the glass from shattering.
