The steps on the left have been walked on for possibly over a hundred years, while the steps on the right have only just been out there. You can see the old stone steps have a story to tell as thousands of feet have walked over them as the years went by.
The steps on the right are no longer uneven and probably a lot safer, but they don’t have the character of the old ones. The comparison just goes to show that even stone can be worn down over time.
