TV shows for children are usually happy and sunny, with characters hopping around in green fields, watched by giggling sun-babies (that’s the Teletubbies – we’re thinking about the Teletubbies).
Animated movies for children, however, tend to have some dark moments, if you think about it, like that scene in Mulan where they find the burned-down village. Notice how there are no more musical numbers from there on, because the mood is so much gloomier.
