You don’t need to be the biggest Pixar fan in the world to know about the company’s tendency to reference their past movies in their more recent movies.
One great example of this that may have gone over your head is a scene from Moana that features a very familiar fish. If you look closely during this scene (that accompanies a song), you can see that Flounder from The Little Mermaid is among this school of fish! While this doesn’t hold any significance towards the movie, it is a cool detail that they slipped in.
