Now here’s something fun we had never realized before. Apparently, the Powerpuff Girls were loosely inspired by another famous and colorful trio of magical beings: the three good fairies from the 1959 movie Sleeping Beauty.
We had never noticed, but Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup share the same color scheme as Flora, Merryweather, and Fauna, as there’s one red, one blue, and one green. Moreover, their personalities have similarities, as there is “the spunky one,” “the sweet one,” and “the tough one.”
