Something in the image below, taken from An American Tail, might look weird, but it’s actually historically accurate. No, we’re not talking about the mice riding on the back of the pigeons. We’re referring to the color of the Statue of Liberty.
The Universal Pictures movie takes place in 1885, the year in which the monument was completed. This means that the oxidisation, which created the green hue we know today, hadn’t happened yet, and the statue still had its original copper color.
