We had a young employee lie about his toddler son passing away. He missed lots of work for supposed doctor’s appointments, and then again for the supposed funeral. But our office manager didn’t buy it.
She called the funeral home where the guy said the funeral was held, and they had never heard of him or his son. Eventually she tracked down the boy’s mother, who confirmed he was just fine. When confronting the soon-to-be fired employee, he said he was detoxing from illegal substances.
