This is the story behind the Robert Downey Jr. improvisation that birthed an entire after-credit scene. In the midst of the fighting scenes shot for The Avengers, RDJ tried a bunch of different funny lines to insert some comic relief, as he loved doing improvs.
The line that eventually made the script said he was only down for some more fighting if the others agreed to hit a shawarma restaurant, as he knew a good one in the neighborhood. After the movie ends, you can see the Avengers getting some shawarma, which is pretty hilarious.
