It’s been rebooted so many times since that the first Spider-Man movie from 2002 rarely gets any love anymore, but it should. Before falling off the deep end with Spider-Man 3, star Tobey Maguire and director Sam Raimi did an awesome job of bringing Peter Parker to the big screen for the first time.
Anyway, when Peter first discovers his powers, he desperately tries different hand gestures to produce his webbing. Maguire ad-libbed his tuches off here, with lines like “Up, up, and away, web” and “Shazam!” directly referencing DC superheroes Superman and Captain Marvel.
