In the beginning of the first Guardians of the Galaxy, we’re introduced to the crew of misfits through the Nova Corps line-up. Much like the one in The Usual Suspects, this lineup also had some creative thinking.
Specifically, we see Peter Quill wind his middle finger up to raise it in an absence gesture, only to go, “Oh, I’m sorry… I didn’t know how this machine worked.” It’s such a juvenile, stupid gesture and line that of course it was improvised on the spot by Chris Pratt, with director James Gunn’s enthusiastic support.
