Considering it was the pivotal scene in a multibillion-dollar franchise, you’d think Tony Stark’s final scene would be a little more… preplanned. True to Marvel form, though, it wasn’t.
Confirmed by Tom Holland (Spider-Man) himself, Tony’s farewell was filmed with only a handful of people on-set: himself, Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, the Russo brothers (the directors), and Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige. What’s more, there was only a loose outline of what needed to be shot – the Russos laid down the path and let the actors pass through it their own way.
